Car Use on Curaçao
Staying on Curaçao without a car will often mean you will miss many of its attractions, not in the least the beautiful
beaches on the whole south shore of the island. Furthermore, a car is very convenient when you go shopping or need to
buy groceries. Supermarkets are located in shopping areas, most of the time too far to walk by foot and public transport
on the island is limited.
This is why Villa Pura Vida offers you the convenience of a car included in the villa rental. We dare to compare our
nightly rate with many other villas where you have to pay extra for the rental car!
The car included in the villa rental is a Jeep Liberty and can be equipped with a child's seat at no extra charge. Extra
children's seats can be requested but depend on availability.
The car is fully insured with an own liability of EURO 450,- which can be reduced to zero for only EURO 5,-/day. Drivers
under 24 years of age are allowed to drive the car at an extra charge of EURO 7,50/day and if they have held their
drivers license for more than 1 year.
The car is registered at the local Road Assistance to help you in case of a broken car or flat tire.
There is no limit in the amount of drivers and all taxes are included.
Gas and diesel are rather cheap on Curaçao compared with many other countries (2008: price indication EURO 0,80/0,45 a
liter). At the local gas stations you are expected to pay first and fill your tank afterwards. Want a full tank? No
problem, you pay more than the content of your empty tank and get the remainder of your money back afterwards.
If you would like a second car during your stay, we can arrange this also. It may be handy when you want more flexibility
than 1 car offers or when you are with more than 4 people and space is limited in the first car.
In cooperation with our local caretaker, Villas & More, we can offer you a reliable and nice extra car at competitive rates.
Rental conditions are comparable with our own car and all their cars are also a member of the Road Assistance.
At this moment (but this may change throughout the year) Villas & More can offer you:
- For 4-5 people: a Chevrolet Vivant (midsize MPV, gasoline, automatic);
- For 4-5 people: a Hyundai Matrix (midsize MPV, gasoline, manual transmission);
- For 4-5 people: a Nissan Tiida (passenger car, gasoline, automatic);
- For 4-5 people: a Mitsubishi Outlander (X-over SUV, gasoline, automatic, 4WD);
- For 4-5 people: a Ford Escape (mid size SUV, gasoline, automatic, 4WD);
- For 4-5 people: a Kia Sportage (mid size SUV, gasoline, automatic;
- For 4-5 people: a Toyota 4Runner (full size SUV, gasoline, automatic, 2WD);
- For 6 people: a Mitsubishi Spacewagon (estate, gasoline, automatic)
- For 6-people: a Kia Carens (midsize MPV, 3rd row of seats, gasoline, manual transmission);
- For 5-7 people: a Ssang Yong Musso (fullsize SUV, diesel, 4WD, automatic);
- For 7 people: a Ford Freestar (full size MPV, gasoline, automatic, very luxurious car).
